Have you heard of Payroll Giving?
It is a way to provide Perth Autism Support with a regular income, to allow us to plan and budget for the future and because donations are taken before tax, it means that we get more of your donation and it costs you less!!
Another benefit of Payroll giving is that we don’t have to claim Gift Aid, so there’s less admin for us – and we can concentrate on supporting you, our children and young people.
For example, if you were a 20% tax rate payer and wanted to donate £10 a month to us from your wages, it would actually cost you £8 by using Payroll Giving. If you were in the 40% tax rate payer, the cost to you would be only £6. That’s how cost effective it is!
What is Payroll Giving?
Payroll Giving is a scheme that enables employees to give to any UK charity straight from their gross pay (before tax is deducted), and to receive immediate tax relief. Payroll Giving has numerous benefits for businesses, including financial, aiding staff retention and improving CSR.
Employees
Your employer needs to set up and run the scheme. The amount of tax relief you get depends on the rate of tax you pay. A great Payroll Giving calculator slide can be found here https://www.cafonline.org/my-personal-giving/plan-your-giving/caf-give-as-you-earn
Employers
We would recommend the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) to set up a scheme but there are various other agencies who also run this tax efficient giving service.
Deductions are made each time you run payroll. The donations will be taken from your employees’ pay before tax but after National Insurance.
CAF or your chosen agency will be able to answer any questions you or your employees have about the scheme.
Costs of Running a scheme
Agencies may charge an administration fee. They usually deduct this from employees’ donations before they pass them to the charity. You can choose to pay the fee, meaning the charities will get more money.
You can deduct any costs of running the scheme from your business profits before tax.
